November 6th 2025

  • 2nd day of intermediate class and the longest class so far
  • Worked on tension and using tension in your body to communicate with the parther that you are in control and that they can wait
  • can be used by the leader or the follower
  • when a leader is going from a simple 1-3 beat step to a faster or a slower cadence, they would become tense to let the follower know that something is coming up.
  • Sort of an alert system. but also usefull because the follower can use you as more leverage in their danceing for balance if you are more tense and strong
  • Then we worked on a sandwich with the tense move that we learned where we tense up to tell the follower to pause and then cancel the sandwich to pull them into an ocho cortado and then pull them to you and out of it into cross system, cross and then salida.
  • from the cut ocho, you can lower your body, move her leg around into a circular “boleo” and then exit into a “???” into paraell system.

Notes

  • A woman isn’t to lead and they must be under a man

  • When a man commits an error (navigation error) , a real man can acknowledge it and course correct (correct the navigation)

  • A woman says, don’t judge me and takes no responsibility. A female follower can literally close their eyes when dancing with a leader, trusted or not, and take no responsibility in the bad leadership of the leader (navigation errors, dance errors). Only sit back and judge the leadership.

  • A tango dance consists of two people but when asked, most people are only looking at the female dancer and sees her, the follower, as the main part of the dance even though the man is in charge of navigation, dance figures, and general musicality.

  • Women will metaphorically wait at the finish line for a leader to become a good dancer and then desire to dance with him, Up until that point, the male has no real value as a dancer.
